Partake In Afternoon Tea At The Savoy, London What could be more deliciously English than a spot of afternoon tea at the Savoy? | |
Afternoon tea at the Savoy is served in the famous Thames Foyer with its art decor mirrors and is accompanied by the resident pianist, a position once occupied by Noel Coward. There are two sittings from Monday to Friday, 2:00pm to 3:30pm and 4:00pm to 6:00pm when a traditional afternoon tea costs £24.00 plus service charge per person. A champagne afternoon tea costs £31.50 per person. On Saturday and Sunday there are three sittings - 12:00pm to 1:30pm, 2:00pm to 3:30pm and 4:00pm to 6:00pm. At the weekend, a traditional afternoon tea costs £27.00 per person and a champagne afternoon tea £34.50 per person. Sunday is extra special because of the tea dances where guests dance waltzes and tangos to a four-piece band - something that the Savoy has been known for since the roaring ’20s. Dress in smart casual attire and to avoid disappointment it is better to reserve a table in advance. As of December 15, 2007, The Savoy has been closed to undergo a £100 million restoration and the hotel will reopen in 2010 and so no bookings are being taken currently. |
