Your recipient will take to the skies with an experienced pilot for this flight of a lifetime. With the design of a hang-glider or small aeroplane, these amazing machines might look scary but they have become a stable, safe and recognised form of travel. An amazing chance to soar like a bird for a 20 to 30 minute flight! Your instructor might even let you take the controls if they feel you are up to it!

Upon arrival at the aerodrome your recipient will be given a briefing on the principles of microlight flying. From there they are taken to the microlight for a general familiarisation of the layout and a rundown of the controls. After this it’s up, up and away for a 20 - 30 minute flight of a lifetime! If the instructor feels confident that his new student is ready, they will even be able to take the controls and get the thrill of piloting the aircraft. On purchasing this experience you will be sent a personalised gift certificate with a minimum of ten months validity. Minimum age varies between location, but will not be less than 14. I must admit when I first received my microlight flight I was feeling very nervous as I don’t have the best head for heights and didn’t know what to expect but thought I had to give it a try. I’m very glad I did as words cannot explain the feeling of soaring through the air in a microlight. I will definitely be doing this again.

I recently enjoyed a 30 minute microlight gift experience, which was bought for me as a Christmas present from my boyfriend. It was such a surprise when I opened it and was a great present, as it was something I’ve always wanted to do. I planned to take my flight around my 30th birthday, which was a perfect time as it was during summer. Although it was delayed by a few weeks, due to the disappointing summer we had this year. It didn’t put me off and added to the build-up. The sun was shining as we arrived at the airfield in the heart of North Yorkshire. Before I took my flight I had to prepare and wear a ridiculous looking salmon quilted jumpsuit, which was the only bit I didn’t enjoy! Once the safety checks we’re done, we set off towards the bottom of the runway and then the microlight quickly picked-up speed and took off. I couldn’t believe how quickly we climbed. The scenery was amazing, especially because I could see close by the giant white horse landmark in Kilburn. I couldn’t stop smiling and had face ache! I had the opportunity to steer but I didn’t because it was pretty windy and the pilot really had to wrestle with the steering, which added to the experience. The only disappointing thing beside the horrid outfit I wore was when it was over because it was such a great feeling being thousands of feet in the air! I would definitely recommend this to anyone and would love to do it again.
