Sailing Experience Onboard A Tall Ship!

Many people dream of sailing a tall ship but rarely get the chance.

Here’s a fantastic opportunity to sail on board a tall ship and to experience life on board one of these magnificent ships.

The term “tall ship” is an all-embracing name given to any traditionally rigged sailing vessel. It covers a wide variety of vessels from a small cutter with one mast to a fully rigged ship with three or more masts.

Joining the ship at 10am, you will be welcomed on board with coffee and biscuits. Following a safety briefing, the ship will then head out into the Solent and will start to hoist the sails!

The crew will be glad of your help with the sails and helming and they will be pleased to explain the ship’s rigging and construction.

But if you prefer to just sit back and relax!

A buffet lunch and afternoon tea will be served during the day and a pay bar is available on board.

The ship will return to port at 5 pm.

On purchasing this experience you will be issued with a voucher valid for ten months, for a Tall Ship Sailing Experience for two people. You are then free to call the operator to book a date for your experience. Children under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult. Unfortunately, the ships are not suitable for wheelchair users. Should you have any other mobility restrictions please contact the supplier to check suitability.

Please note that this experience only operates on selected weekend dates each month from May to September (availability varies between the three boats available). We recommend booking as early as possible.

Ever since I was a little boy I've wondered what it would be like to sail the blue peter ship and now I know! The tall ship was absolutely grand and enormous! We stepped aboard and were astonished at how much room there was to sit and enjoy ourselves, much appreciated the buffet lunch and afternoon tea after all our hard work learning to sail!

We took a week's holiday to Portsmouth and encorporated the Tall Ship Sailing Experience into our stay.
