Do Something Amazing -
Give Blood

On the 14th of June 2006, it’s World Blood Donor Day so if you fancy a free cup of tea and biscuits why not give the gift of life by donating blood today?

Blood Donation For Blood DonorsSimply pop in to your local blood donor centre at a convenient time (the whole process takes less than an hour) , remembering to have something to eat and drink before going.

If it’s your first time, you’ll be given some leaflets and asked to fill in a donor health check form. You will then have a short confidential chat with the nurse and a tiny drop of blood will be taken from your fingertip to check that you’re not anaemic.

Then it’s time to give blood.

Usually about 470ml of blood is taken (just under a pint) which your body quickly replaces.

You then make your way to the refreshment area for a drink and some biscuits.

Easy peezy lemon squeezy.

For more information about giving blood visit the National Blood Service website.
