Tickets for the Last Night are in great demand and by the time they go on general sale to the public on the 12th of June the chances of there being any left are very slim indeed. That’s because most of them are snapped up during the advance booking period which runs from now until tickets go on general sale. And because of demand, a Six Concert Rule applies during the advance booking period. To qualify for Last Night Of The Proms tickets you must also book for at least six other concerts in the 2005 season. No matter how many seats you book, the maximum number of seats per household for the Last Night is limited to just two, and satisfying the Six Concert Rule is still no guarantee that you’ll get tickets for the Last Night. If they have all gone by the time they process your application for tickets, you won’t get any. One way of guaranteeing a ticket for the Last Night is to buy a season ticket for the entire Proms. It’ll cost you £160 for the Arena, £135 for the Gallery. And one of the traditions of promenade concerts at the Albert Hall is for a thousand or more standing tickets to go on sale on the day of the concert. These day tickets priced at just £4 cannot be reserved so even for “sold out” concerts you still stand a good chance of getting in if you’re willing to queue. Make sure you get there early for the more popular concerts though - the people at the front of the queue for the Last Night arrive the day before. Full details of all concerts are on the BBC’s website and you can book tickets online via the Royal Albert Hall website. Telephone booking for the Proms opens on Monday the 13th of June. Call the Royal Albert Hall Box Office on 020 7589 8212 between 9am and 9pm daily. You can also buy tickets in person from the Albert Hall from that date (nearest tube stations South Kensington on the District and Piccadilly lines and High Street Kensington on the Circle and District lines) . And if its Last Night tickets you particularly want, returns do occasionally become available for sale so it’s always worth asking at the Box Office. If you can’t get into the Royal Albert Hall this year and still want to join in the fun, why not go along to one of the Proms In The Park that are being held in Hyde Park London, Belfast, Glasgow, Swansea and Manchester this year? As in previous years, each city will have its own distinctive concert before joining together with big-screen link-ups for the live relay of the famous finale of the Last Night of the Proms from the Royal Albert Hall. Tickets are free and are available from the 1st of July by calling 08700 100900 or online at the BBC’s Proms In The Park website.
